And now, the controversy continues, what should hypnosis professionals call themselves, a hypnotist or hypnotherapist? Well it all depends on the message you want to send to your clients. And, surprise! There may be a negative effect when you suggest to your clients need therapy. Be aware of that.

So, how do we hypnotize someone who keeps opening his eyes, or is otherwise non-compliant? This question was from Josh, and I suspect that perhaps this hypnosis client was conflicted about the issue that he came in for. We talk about the things that we can do to help the hypnosis professional with non-compliant clients. I also share some of my techniques for dealing with the fear of hypnosis, and some basic and advanced troubleshooting techniques.

Next, we go into what it was like for Kelsey to get her supervision time and learn more about hypnosis, and working with clients. She talks about some of the insider hypnosis tips, tricks, and techniques that she is learning at the Banyan Hypnosis Center. Kelsey shares what she has learned about how to get someone to revivify during an age regression when they are not fully reliving the situation during the hypnosis session.

Then we go over this week’s Dumb Hypnotist Trick segment of the program. Kelsey gives me three choices, and I decide to talk about the Dumb Hypnotist Trick of criticizing your clients. I cover one of my favorite Banyanisms, “Hypnosis is a confidence game, if you don’t get their confidence then there will be no game.”

Today, I answer a viewer’s question, as usual. This one came from one of the members of www.OurHypnoSpace.com. He wanted to know how to do forgiveness therapy when his clients don’t seem to be angry at anyone.

To answer this, I need to do a quick review of the professional 5-PATH® hypnosis system. Here is a quick overview:

5-PATH® Hypnosis consists of 5 phases:

Phase I: You start off by preparing your client for success by doing an excellent hypnosis pre-talk, and pre-hypnosis interview. Use a rapid or instant hypnotic induction and test your client for somnambulism. Then you skillfully convince your client that he or she is in hypnosis.
Phase II: Next you move on to the Hypnotic Age Regression work, which enables you to find and neutralize the cause of the problem. You can then choose to do some Age Progression work as well as suggest that the change will manifest in the future.
Phase III: Then you guide your client through the Forgiveness of Others work, where you will help your client by neutralizing any feelings of anger, which tend to stress the client and can motivate the problem behavior.
Phase IV: The Forgiveness of Self work, is where you neutralize feelings of guilt that the client has regarding the problem, which also stresses the client and motivate the problem behavior. You will take most clients only through these 4 phases, unless they have secondary gain issues.
Phase V: If they have secondary gain issues (they gain something by continuing to have the problem) then you will proceed to doing the Parts Mediation work.

This 5-phased approach is a virtually universal approach for working with, probably, at least 90% of the kinds of issues that your clients have.

Next, Kelsey asks about building rapport, and if we can spend too much time doing this, and is there such a thing as being too friendly? I stress how important it is to not spend too much time just “visiting” with the client during the pre-hypnosis interview. You will also learn that you do not have to give out information about yourself, and I discuss other ways to build rapport in a session. Finally, you learn how to avoid playing counselor and why.

This week we come up with another Dumb Hypnotist Trick. I expect that this will be the most controversial Dumb Hypnotist Trick yet! I take on the topic of doing progressive relaxation inductions. They need to be replaced by faster inductions which are more reliable, more efficient and are designed to take the client to the specific level of hypnosis needed for the work you intend to do in the session.

Our Free Hypnosis Training Videos are Now Available on iTunes!

As many of you already know, the audio versions of our “podcasts” Hypnosis, Etc. have been available on iTunes for some time now, but we had not managed to get the video version up! Well, we have finally “cracked the code” and now we are uploading our free hypnosis training videos from www.CalBanyan.com onto iTunes. You will be able to get the audio and video version of Hypnosis, Etc. programs as well. (Thank you IT Department, John Paul and Chad!)

We will be doing this over the next couple of weeks. The first ten or so are up there now. We need to load the 40 or so that we have completed so far up there on iTunes in chronological order so that they show up in the right order when you and others go there to have a look.

NOTE – You do not need to have an iPod to use iTunes! You can use iTunes with any computer that is connected to the Internet.

I know that many of you will want to have a look at those videos on iTunes, here are some quick instructions.

By the way, it helps us out if you go there and subscribe to the program. The more subscriptions there are for a particular program the higher the rating it receives for popularity. So if you could have a look and subscribe it would help us to spread the work and get this training out to a wider part of the world. THANKS!

1. Go to www.iTunes.com and download iTunes.

2. Install iTunes on your computer.

3. Then go to the iTunes Store.

4. Then click on the link for Podcasts on the left side of the screen.

5. At the top right side of the screen there is a search window. There you can type in “Cal Banyan” and the iTunes will list this podcast. Click on the podcast name “Hypnosis Video Blog by Cal Banyan” and then you will see the listing of free hypnosis training videos that we have uploaded so far. Once again, while you are there, I’d appreciate if you all click on the Subscribe button.

Subscribing to a podcast just means that whenever a new episode is uploaded to iTunes, I tunes will know to make it immediately available on your computer (and iPod if you have one).

On the subject of iTunes and Podcasts, while you are there I want to encourage you to take a look around. You will be amazed at the number of free Podcasts available. And, they cover just about every subject imaginable! Personally, I’m addicted and have downloaded over 400 Podcasts! I watch and listen to them all the time, like when I am getting ready for work, riding my bike, driving in my car and anytime I find myself stuck waiting somewhere. (I went out and got an iPod so that I could take them with me.) I’ve learned a lot about marketing, search engine optimization, and so much more, and it was all FREE! You can’t beat that!!!
